Outdoors » Benefit KOA Care Camps for children with cancer

Show That You Care-And Kamp
for FREE!

It's the KOA sixth annual Come Kamp & Care With Us Weekend May 8-9, 2009. Join us as a paying kamper on Friday, May 8 and you'll stay May 9 absolutely FREE.

You'll spend the weekend having fun and participating in fundraising for a great cause. Participating kampgrounds will be collecting donations and holding fundraising events to benefit KOA Care Camps for children with cancer, the official charity of the KOA Owners Association. This network of 35 specialized summer camps gives children with cancer, and their siblings, a chance to experience the joys of camping while continuing their treatments. To date, KOA has raised nearly $1 million for this truly worthy cause.

To reserve your free night, view the full list of participating KOA Kampgrounds. Then, click on the campground where you'd like to stay, and make your reservations! Don't wait. There is a limited supply of campsites and cabins available for this very special weekend

To find or more about KOA Care Camps, or to make a donation today, just go to www.koacarecamps.com

Outdoors » John Brook Trail - Mount Marcy

Parking is located on I believe automobile road in Keene Valley, New York off of Route 73. Be sure to allow ample room for others to enter and exit if the parking lot is full. This is a fun overnight hike or even day hike. If you go just for the day make sure you begin your hike early in the day as this is an 18 mile round trip! The beginning of the trail is marked with a yellow trail marker. At about 3 miles you'll reach a place to sign in! Please do this as it can save a life in case of emergencies! Happy Hiking!

Outdoors » Outdoor Camping Recipe

Here is an easy outdoor camping recipe:

The easiest of all, I don't know the name but remember my father cooking like this.  A hamburger placed on foil. Take veggies of your choice, sliced thin and place them on top of the burger. Add any spices of choice, wrap and cook for 15 to 20 minutes.  Besides hot coals from the campfire, I remember this also being done on the barbecue grill in the summer time.

As a side and if in season take seasoned corn on the cob with butter, wrapped in tin foil.
