My mom is the owner of this campsite, Sandy Bazzano. My sister and I are finally starting to take it over little by little. My mom has given us the opprotunity to run it this summer 2008. There will be many changes going on throughout the year. We will be putting in marked nature trails for your walking pleasure, Maybe even a 9 hole golf course, and plenty more. There is a 60ft in ground pool with a stagae adjacent to it for music. We will be trying to hold some friday and saturday night music and camping specials. We are also doing Party/Event planning at Twin Ponds. With the pool, game room, playground, stage for music, and just the plan outdoors for any age party. It is a great place to take the kids. We are also doing babysitting there. So if you daycare is closed or you need a day off come drop your child off for a fun filled day at Twin Ponds for only $3 an hour. We are also opening up a store in the Rec Building. We are going to sell our homemade jewelry and tons of knick knacks. The store will grow as the summer goes on. We are also a rental company with a 20x20 tent, bounce houses, and more! Camping rates are really cheap. Outdoors » Point Au Roche State Park

I take my children to the beach here. It's clean, there is plenty of room. Plus, I heard that the city beach at one point in time was a landfill. I think that is horrible, it can't be good to swim in or around that area.

Point Au Rouche is a great place in Plattsburgh to take your pets. Like Bob said, go to the second entrence of the park. It's free and you can walk your pets around the trails there. Always have you pets leashed and all up-to-date vaccinations.

Thanks for the post Bob! I also like taking my dog up to Point Au Rouche State Park  to walk the wilderness trails and then we both go swimming around on a nice day.

I like to go up to Point Au Rouche State Park and walk through the numerous trails there. When I do not bring my dog I go to the first entrance of the Park. I do not mind paying the small fee to support the upkeep of the park. When I bring my pet, they do not allow him in the beach or picnic areas so I go to the second entrance which many may or may not know about.

Continue past the 19 Camp Red Cloud Road and when you see the Point Au Roche Lodge on your left, make that right and follow until you find the parking area. This is a free parking area where you can walk around with your leashed pet. The rules say leashes can be up to 6 feet long and you must be able to provide proof of vaccinations in any event, current rabies tags/dated collar tag will be fine.

This is a great place to visit and even take a refreshing dip into one of the pools created by this beautiful waterfall on a hot summer day. I have been going for several years and every time I went nobody was there. It was so peaceful and relaxing sitting, listening to the water flow. Then last year I went there mid-day and found many gathered enjoying this beautiful stream/waterfall the Adirondacks have to offer. The kids were jumping from the cliffs into the pools of water, it was amazing. I joined in and had a blast. I totally felt like a teenager again! Everyone should go check this out once this summer and you can still swim without jumping!
