Local Springs

2008-06-20

Does anyone have information on where the local springs are?  These are places, such as the one on Gougeville Spring Road in Cadyville, and the one on Route 374 in Dannemora, where you can drive up and fill up on natural, untouched spring water right from the ground.  I know of a few of them.  Does anyone have information on others, for those who want to take advantage of this great natural resource instead of buying processed, bottled water?

There is one on route 22 in Beekmantown.  Drink at your own risk!

Yes, be aware these water sources have not been tested.  Do drink at your own risk, but also remember that they are direct underground water flows, with the good earth and rock as natural filters!

Do a taste test.  Try drinking a nice cold glass of Dannemora spring water, then try a glass of your own tap water, and you decide which tastes more natural.  I realize the municipal water supplies are safe and highly regulated, but water from a natural spring just tastes fresher.

There is one in Peru, too (Schuyler Falls).  It's on a corner of an intersection on a back road - I think one of the roads is Soper Street, not sure what the other is called.
