Gas groans & moans

2008-06-19

Evidently 400+ independent truckers are staging a protest at the Capitol Building in Albany today to bring attention to the hardships placed on them due to the cost of diesel.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, unless they have the backing of corporation trucking companies, it won't have the impact that it should.  I firmly believe that if ALL trucking stopped for one week - perhaps even less - the domino effect would make gas prices would plummet.

There are many advantages to living in the North Country versus NYC, but $65 per week just to commute back and forth to work is excessive on every level.  When is the insanity going to stop....mid-winter?

Now if every American took 2 days to join the truckers, maybe gas prices would drop. Heck, how about a demand for alternative fuels...

The demand is already there and growing.  We just can't seem to decide which alternative won't leave a bigger footprint.

Bio-diesel from Waste Vegetable Oil seems like the only thing that the oilmen will allow in the nearterm as we wont see hydrogen fill up station infrastructure built anytime soon and electric wont suffice in the great open land of ours.

Time for a serious look at our habits in regards to living, commuting and recreation.

Cheapest way to get from Point A to Point B is to not have a Point B!

I hope people begin to press their e lected officials to impliment laws to make this change over process a lot quicker and smoother. Does anyone know how many electric vehicles one of those wind towers can recharge?

What is the breaking point for Americans?  $10 a gallon?

I remember when gas was. I can't tell you. Then you'll know how old I am. Let's just say in the late 70's a barrel of crude oil was only $10. My pills today cost about that same as a barrel of crude oil today, over 100 dollars.

I heard the windmills will only be contributing 13% of our energy.  Has anyone else heard this?  If so, they certainly take up a lot of space for that amount of energy.

Maybe you're right Brian, about not having a point B, but a difficult thing to change.

If this video isn't a fake, the Japanese already have the prototype for an HHO-powered car that doesn't have to pull into a station. View and weep.
