Heritage Trail

1) we must cut enforcement we can't afford it; prop taxes must come down they are hurting good people!

2)If you see someone strange call the police(563-3411) they respond fast and will solve the issues; also tell others on the path most Burghers are helpful people. I know if someone mentioned a certain area of the path having a dangerous section(person/animal/etc) I would personally patrol it. I live on the path and my petite pregnant fiance is a avid user of the path; it should not be a scary place nor does it feel that wayto everyone. Plus the more people on the path the better for safety.(and health)

3)The recent stabbing was not a random act of kindness.

Other points of interest: It is time to revisit our drug laws having the most amount of people incarcerated in the world is a terrible stat; especially with prisioner refering to time spent behind bars as "Criminal Univ".

And Ten, you're right the world of every mom being the "Neighborhood Mother" are gone- sadly. Instead the economy and pursuit of the American way has forever changed us and video games made it fun to watch us die.

Ooh, what a direct statement about video games.  I suppose it's true.

As for calling the police everytime I see someone strange, that would be daily, 24/7.  The north end of the bike path is a direct link from one "hell hole" to the other, and provides some nice shady trees for cover as well.  Certainly the stabbing was not a random act.  However, I'll leave the area to the unemployed and unemployable - thank you.

I agree with what Brian said. It sounds simple, but, most crimes are solved by tips from regular Joes.

Ten, I think you need to have more faith in people! You sound like such a perfect person over the internets.. Some people go through hard times.. I am not saying that the area is inhabited by Plattsburgh's finest, but give some of them a chance!

On to the tree issue: Maybe Mayor Don should cut down all of the trees on the bike path like Mayor Dan did by the beach.. Gosh, those 100 yr old trees really needed to be cut down!

As somone who freaquently rides the bike from one end of the trail to the other, for the most part I do believe it is, for the most part, safe.

To be fair, I "think" what Ten may be referring to are not 100 yr old trees, but more of what I would call brush and dense ground cover surrounding them.  I would certainly lead the warcry if a proposal was made to cut down 100 yr old trees, but honestly, would love to see a bit of the lower foliage cleared or maybe "thinned" for safety reasons.

And I remember when it was common here to leave doors unlocked, and I am far from 90.  But then again, I still bring home made bread and cookies to my neighbors at Christmas.  The faces change from year to year as people move and homes are sold and purchased...but the expressions on the faces don't.  I guess what I am saying is rather than "remembering" a fonder time, why not make an effort to create one?  Yeah, I know, rose colored glasses ...but...it has to start somewhere.

I think Plattsburgh is a fairly safe town, but there are times and places to avoid.
