Here is a good kick in the backside for you. So, you want to save the earth, be friendly to the environment, and most of all save money on electricity costs. You go out like every other American wanting to do the same and purchase compact fluorescent light bulbs for your home, Saving about 200 dollars a year on energy costs. Great, We save money and save the environment! Makes sense or does it? Have you thought the potential hazards that come with these WONDERFUL “new” energy saving CFL bulbs? I never did, until yesterday and I must share my findings with you. Think of this.. have you ever broken a “normal” light bulb before? Most likely, Yes.

What are the Hazards that come along with CFL bulbs? The one and only main reason you and I, well, everyone should be concerned with is what exactly is in these new CFL light bulbs? Did you read the label on the light bulbs or package before installing it into your home all fixtures? Go take a look at the package if you haven't already thrown it out, or, Go very cautiously remove the CFL (spiral looking) bulb from your fixture and take a peek!

O.K, you may not have time to but consider this, All of these light bulbs contain something very hazardous to you, myself, YOUR CHILDREN, pets, and any other living thing that comes near a BROKEN BULB. It contains MERCURY.

and government is requiring us to use only them in the next couple years... seems like a recipe for disaster just like the ethanol subsidies. they have good intensions but forget the unintended side-effects. the government should not be in the business of subsidies and regulations. they are both equaly damaging and never have only the desired effect.
