You and your family will love to travel on the Adirondack High Peaks Wilderness Train.
Each way is a 10 mile trip from the Lake Placid Station to Saranac Lake Union Depot. 
Trips are available from either station. You'll have plenty of time to visit the gorgeous 
villages of Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. If you happen to need a refreshment or snack 
there is a café on the train.
