I saw workers today installing something that looked like cameras at the Broad street , S & N. Catherine intersection. These camera cost TAXPAYERS A LOT of money. I was wondering what people thought of this. I notice in the community blog of plattsburghpipeline.com, that the terrible streets topic had many comments. How many pot holes could have been repaired if this camera was not installed?

I don't know if I like the idea of traffic cameras around town. :-(

I think the cameras are up and running now. I just reada report that over in the UK, over 20,000 cameras have deterred crime one bit. Wonder how they will help our tiny city out, or will they too be a waste of tax payers money.

They probably don't even work right.

Oh they work, I was traveling West on Rt. 3 towards Plattsburgh Campus and FLASH, I was blinded. Someone had ran the red light as I was going the other way. That flash is dangerous. Let's hope this new camera pays for itself and maybe generates some revenues to fix things up around the city.

Is this new camera just for traffic violations or is it always on and recording?

They can watch all they want, I'm not doing anything wrong, so I don't care. But as for our rights to privacy.. I care...

There should be a way to find out more about this.
