This is old news. In the 70's the supreme courts ruled in favor of extended patrols by our border agents up to 100 miles.  Yes that does mean that 2/3's of U.S. live within this zone.  In recent years the borders patrol has extended their presence within this zone.  Unfortunately,  law is the law and it's on their side.
