Photos of Plattsburgh City Beach - September 10, 2008

2008-09-10

Hi all,

I shot some images at City Beach today and they're posted to my Flickr.  I also created a dedicated photo-set so you won't have to wade through a sea of images to find them if you read this post 6 months from now.  ;)  The images are  pared down to my top 12 favorites, but very likely another dozen will follow from today's shoot.

Comments are welcome, here or there.

Nice shots there, alar.

My buddy and I took a drive up to Malone a couple days ago...and of course...I forgot my camera.  X-P

It was a beautiful breezy day, and the Windmills in Churabusco were in action.  We're heading back up there on Saturday, then stopping by Dicks country store to jam on some guitars.   I'll remember to take my camera this time and snap some shots of the windmills.   I'll upload them to my flicker and post them for ya'll to see.

Very nice pictures.  I like the one with the feather on the sand.

Rich, cool -- always glad to find other local Flickrers.  As you probably know, if there's one way to stumble upon a boat-load of photo opportunities, it's to leave your camera at home!  =)  I bet some great shots could be had at Dick's as well -- looking forward to seeing what you capture, so don't forget to post a link for us!  And feel free to add me as a contact on Flickr (username: John Alarcon)!

@Rich - Thanks!  I am fascinated by dragonflies and other flying insects I didn't realize they were (loosely speaking) carnivorous and cannibalistic.  That particular specimen was so enrapt in its meal that it didn't even care about me being inches away with a camera -- and as it ate the other dragonfly, another little gem of trivia surfaced: dragonflies are crunchy!  If you like closeups of spiders and insects, check out my set of Spiders & Insects.

@lifeisgood - Thanks!  I love the simplicity of the image and it's a real testament to the fact that a photo need not consist of much and can still be evocative and/or well-received!

Thanks much for letting me know which ones you guys like!  There's also a thread for a slideshow of the Battle of Plattsburgh fireworks show -- including a video of the grand finale!  Enjoy!
