City Beach Closing

2008-09-08

From what I've gathered on this site, not very many people care much for the city beach, but the early closing of it has surely caused a stir . . .

I'm just glad I wasn't trying to take my dog to the dog park during the week following the beach closing.  Cars were parked everywhere.  A dog park goer would have a walk just to get to it!  In fact, cars in the dog parking area had folding tables set up with umbrellas.  They were sitting right there!

Beachgoers have to walk, too...and farther most of the time, as well.  Not to discount what you're saying about the short distanced walk to the dog-park, but at least the intent to walk is already there in those cases.  It's simply: first come, first park.  I don't mind what is essentially a very short walk even on the busiest days.

Melissa L. Penfield park at Baily AVe School has a dog park section that is much better and has ample parking.

Good call, Gina, -- I think they even have an annual dog-walk event there.

Yes, their is one every year but I cannot remember the date.  I think the oval has an annual dog show or walk there too!

I agree that the dog park at Baliey Ave is much nicer!

Alar is exactly right on about the first come, first park.

I don't prefer Bailey Ave. dog park.  It's long, narrow, hilly and inconvenient to me.  Also, the point is not to exercise the person, but the dog, when the person doesn't have time to take them for a real walk, so parking is a point also.  Maybe it's just me that remembers the parking area in front of what is now the dog park (on Cumberland Head) was specifically created for the business that was originally built there, which was a mini-putt.  This is why I generally assume it's for the dog park.
