Alternative News » Tax Dollars Wasted in Iraq

I was reading an AP story today and want to share it with you. A special investigator/inspector general for the reconstruction of Iraq release information that we the tax payers have been screwed over again by this Unconstitutional, Undeclared war in Iraq. The figures state that more than 100 billion dollars have been wasted.

Gas prices are reaching $4.00 a gallon in NY, but our government can waste billions of OUR HARD EARNED TAX dollars fighting a war in Iraq, whose leader and people had absolutely nothing to do with 9-11...

When will enough be enough?

Thanks for the reply and thoughts on this topic Jim. I will see if we can get a poll of some sort up for this idea. Let's see if others reply so we can get more ideas on where the community members of Plattsburgh think good places for the live broadcast webcams should be.

Pipeline Projects » Live Webcams Around Plattsburgh

I'm thinking somewhere on Route 3 would be neat even though it is the town and not the city. I also think one on Margaret Street or Clinton Street or both! Clinton would be good for events like the Mayor's cup.

Outdoors » Point Au Roche State Park

I like to go up to Point Au Rouche State Park and walk through the numerous trails there. When I do not bring my dog I go to the first entrance of the Park. I do not mind paying the small fee to support the upkeep of the park. When I bring my pet, they do not allow him in the beach or picnic areas so I go to the second entrance which many may or may not know about.

Continue past the 19 Camp Red Cloud Road and when you see the Point Au Roche Lodge on your left, make that right and follow until you find the parking area. This is a free parking area where you can walk around with your leashed pet. The rules say leashes can be up to 6 feet long and you must be able to provide proof of vaccinations in any event, current rabies tags/dated collar tag will be fine.

I found your site plattsburghpipeline.com and think the concept is a wonderful one. I like writing letters to the editor of Press-Republican newspaper, the only downfall to this is that only one of my letters will be published per month. The community forum of Plattsburgh Pipeline provides me as well as other community members to voice our opinions daily and really have intellectual conversations with each other about important issues. This sure beats have the chance to voice my opinion once a month. I will tell many people about this.

Thank You,

City Government Issues » Terrible Streets

It's probably a mixture of all three. My car bounces around on almost every road in this city. I take a ride out to the Town of Plattsburgh and the roads there make the city roads seem like a war zone.

Someone needs to be questioned, we need some answers and most of all we need Action. I haven't seen one road crew repairing the horrible roads. Every time you drive by these workers, when you do see them, if you do see them, it sure looks like they are always doing NOTHING. These workers are being paid with our tax dollars, I paid my taxes, FIX MY ROADS!

Does anyone else agree with me?

The Burgh » Best Bar in Town?

I nominate Peabody's for Plattsburgh, New York's best bar! I like it because on Monday night I enjoy Chug-a-Mug,Two buck for a huge beer, you can't go wrong. The dancing and music is awesome & flip-night on Wensday is great, heads or tails you call it, you guess right, free drink. You can't beat that. Peabody's has so much fun to offer someone every night of the week. Now they even have a guitar hero contest.

City Government Issues » Terrible Streets

Is there a reason why the streets are in such horrible condition in Plattsburgh? Is there just no money to keep them maintained? It seems like a minimum requirement is to keep the streets driveable but unless you have an SUV it is like driving through a minefield.

I would think everyone realizes how terrible the roads are but why are they still in such bad shape? Money? Politics? Stupidity?
