About the Event
Certified Instructors lead a variety of land and water based activities designed to promote comfort and independence in the boat. Participants will learn the basics of rigging, points of sail, sailing maneuvers, safety and recovery in a safe and fun environment. Sailors will receive US SAILING Little Red Sailing Certification Books at the completion of the course.
There will be a pre-requisite swim test which includes:
Swim 25 yards without assistance - style will not count
Tread water for two minutes wearing a t-shirt and long pants provided by the student
put on and secure a life jacket while clothed and treading water
students or guardian must complete a simple medical form
students provide their own PFD
Session 1 July 28-Aug 1; Session 2 is Aug 4-8
Youth session (12+) is 1p-4p and adults 5p-8p
People can register by going to the City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department office at the old base gym Mon-Fri 9a-4p. The cost is $175 per session
