“ROLLER DERBY & ROCKIN' ROLL”

Plattsburgh, NY – Plattsburgh’s roller derby team, The North Country Lumber Jills, is hosting a live performance by local area bands, highlighting Lucid.  “Roller Derby & Rockin' Roll” will take place on Saturday, April 16, 2011.  The team has arranged the event in support of the continued efforts to introduce Roller Derby to the North Country.

“Roller Derby & Rockin' Roll” will be held at Therapy Nightclub & Sports Lounge, 14 Margaret Street, Plattsburgh NY, from 9:00pm to 2:00am.  The event will headline original music from Lucid, with sounds from George Wurster, then a feature from Doomf*ck. The cost of admission is $4 for 21+ and $8 for 18+. Skaters will hold a raffle and team merchandise will be available. All proceeds benefit The North Country Lumber Jills.

"Lucid's sound is a bluesy, sort of north country explosion" says Catie Harrison-Wurster. Wurster skates as a member of the Lumber Jills and also plays upright bass for Doomf*ck. "Roller derby and rock and roll go hand in hand", continues Wurster.  The Jills were approached by George Wurster, who is a board member for The Plattsburgh Roller Derby and former member of The Blind Pig Blues Band, to organize "Roller Derby & Rockin' Roll" to help The Lumber Jills raise money.

The North Country Lumber Jills have recently posted their bouting/scrimmaging schedule on their website along with a link to buy team merchandise. The Lumber Jills travel throughout New York, Vermont and New Hampshire during the 2011roller derby season.

The North Country Lumber Jills is an all-female, flat track roller derby team.  The team is an official not-for-profit organization and has recently held their second open recruitment for referees, skaters and non-skating officials, which brought in new members at multiple skill levels.
