PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – CNBC’s senior talent
producer will discuss her new book on today’s successful business
leaders Tuesday, April 20, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Alumni
Conference Room, Angell College Center, SUNY Plattsburgh.
Lori Ann LaRocco, a 1992 graduate of the college’s mass media
communications and broadcast journalism programs, will present “Thriving
in the New Economy: Lessons from Today’s Top Business Minds” as part of
the college’s Distinguished Visiting Alumni program.
The presentation will center on her book of the same name. It
features personal stories, advice and strategies intended to help
individuals skirt financial peril, seize opportunities and flourish in
the new economy. With a foreword by H. Wayne Huizenga, the founder of a
number of companies including Blockbuster Video and former owner of the
Miami Dolphins, and an afterword by former New York City Mayor Rudy
Giuliani, the book explores the secrets of success for business leaders
including financial publisher Steve Forbes, Vanguard Group founder Jack
Bogle, former Director of the National Economic Council Larry Lindsey
and more.
“We are honored to have Lori Ann LaRocco serve as our distinguished
visiting alumna,” said Director of Alumni Relations Joanne Nelson. “This
program is designed to increase quality interactions between alumni and
current students, and I can hardly think of a better person than Lori
Ann to deliver a hopeful, informative message to our students about
their future.”
As the distinguished visiting alumna, LaRocco will meet directly
with business and communication classes on campus, discussing topics
like on-camera performance, professionalism, and writing for radio and
television. And she will end her visit, delivering a second presentation
on her book to the Plattsburgh Noon Rotary Club at its April 21
meeting.
As the senior talent producer at CNBC, LaRocco has interacted with
some of the world's biggest business minds. She has been working at the
network since 2000, when she was first hired as one of Maria Bartiromo's
producers on her evening show "Market Week." LaRocco produced and
booked interviews with some of the biggest names in business. In 2005,
she was tapped to help with the relaunch of CNBC’s flagship morning
show, “Squawk Box.”
Prior to working at CNBC, LaRocco worked as an anchor, reporter and
assignment editor in local news around the country for seven years.
According to LaRocco, she is also a proud and busy hockey, baseball,
soccer, karate, and dance mom of three children.
