The newly formed North Country Franco-American Club will kick of its series of regular meetings with a presentation on the history of Plattsburgh with a special emphasis on its French heritage. Clinton County historian Anastasia Pratt will inaugurate the club's regular series of monthly meetings.
The club will now meet on the first Wednesday of every month. The September meeting will be held in the Emmaus Room of Saint Peter's Church at 7 pm on Wednesday, September 3, 2008.
The club is working with various community groups to establish an agenda for future meetings. A Holiday concert is in the planning stages. The public is invited at attend and contribute ideas for future meeting topics.
The North Country Franco-American Club is envisioned as an educational, historical, cultural, and genealogical non-profit organization. The club seeks to make people aware of the rich culture and history of the French and French Canadians in North America, with special emphasis on those who settled in Northern New York.
